The Department for Transport commissioned a mini survey of the Fishing Vessel (FV) Trident following the Marine Accident Investigation Branch detailed examination in August 2001.
The mini survey was commissioned to provide further information and assist with the preparation of the technical specification for the Reopened Formal Investigation into the loss of the F.V. Trident. The work was carried out by representatives of the Office of the Advocate General for Scotland (OSAG), interested parties and the Department for Transport (DfT).
The mini survey took place from Tuesday 3 rd August 2004 until Thursday 5 th August 2004. Fathoms Ltd provided the vessel Teal, an 18.25 metre multi purpose catamaran workboat to provide the platform necessary for the work to be carried out.
